Default And the flavor of the week is: Smite!

This is a thread to agree, disagree, post smite builds and smite counters. Frankly, I'm not that impressed with smite since renewal can bite it badly but I've seen some solid teams running smite to various extents. Smite warriors to 8monk teams, the smiting love is all around.

Kite and spread out? Multiple ward against foes area of control? Frankly I think this'll be as effective as the spike teams were (i,e not very). As you said an oath shot renewal spammer owns this really badly. SoH/JI on warriors are solid skills but they aren't going to be that good till you don't see much renewal.

Nature's Renewal and Quickening Zephyr really impede a Smiter. Alternatively, a Healing Ball tactic will remove any threat from all of the Monk's AoEs. Smiters have few shutdown skills, so you will be able to play mostly unimpeded by interrupts, Conditions, and Hexes. The hard part is finding their non-Smiting Monks and taking them down.

Diversion Spammer>El/Mo Ether Renewal-Draw Conditions/Boon spammers without Spell Breaker protection.

I still would be hesistant to put a serious smiter in a build just because of Natures Renewal being the worst skill in the game and messing everything up. They really need to either give it a major rehaul or just do like Unnatural Signet and take it out of the game.

Smite for PvP is really only nice in small doses. Too many counters against large scale smiting - Natures Ren, healing hands, shielding hands, hands in pants and rend/shatter/backfire+soulleech shityounameititcounterssmitedamnit.

All very true, but still it is insanely prevelent in the arenas and it pops up in the Tombs as well. Was playing last night with some friends in the arena and we ran into a 4-monk team -- good God was that annoying. Took forever and a half to kill them. As near as I could tell 3 were primarily smiting and the last was healing

Put a healing seed on someone and clump next to him.

The smiter can stay there all day, as long as you have at least one seed.

(just watch out for AoEs)

If they are boon smiters, then backfire puts them in their place. Actually... Even if they aren't boon smiters, backfire would still pretty much put them in their place.

Put down renewal and spike them one by one.

Backfire is what smiters love to see. Nothing better than knowing your enemy added to your damage output wasted 15 power and didn't damage you at all.

Depends. If it's an Ether Renewal Smiter and he gets Backfired during the downtime he's in for some trouble vs a persistent Mesmer or Ranger.

A Bon smiter should be able to continue going unharmed.

My smite guild plays GvG with 4 Henchies and we destroy everything in our path. Nature's Renewal? HA!

And what are you ranked? I checked the ladder and I couldn't find you on there.

Because maybe we're a new starting guild that split off from TCS? Btw, if you want to talk about ranking, first stop being destroyed in arena vs. us.

P.S. Although we have very little members and are just playing for fun, soon we shall make our big debut. SOON I SAY SOON! *green tea ice cream evil laugh*
